(4)
Any benefit to which this section applies (not
being a benefit that is a charge on some other fund
of The Gambia) shall be a charge on the
Consolidated Fund or upon such other special fund,
whether contributory or non-contributory, as may
be prescribed by an Act of the National Assembly.
(5)
This section applies to any benefits payable under
any law providing for the grant of pensions,
gratuities or compensation to persons who are or
have been public officers in respect of their service
in the public service or to the widows, children,
dependants or personal representative of such
persons in respect of such services.
(6)
Reference to the law applicable to any benefits to
which this section applies includes references to
any law relating to the time at which and the
manner in which any person may retire in order to
become eligible for those benefits.
A pension payable to any person who is or has been a
public officer in respect of his or her service in the Public
Service or to the widow, children or dependants of such
persons in respect of such service shall(a)
(b)
be free of all tax; and
be subject to review to take account of
relevant salary increases.

THE POLICE FORCE AND PRISON SERVICE
PART 1: THE POLICE FORCE

Police Force
(1)
There shall be a Police Force of The Gambia
of which the Inspector General of Police
shall be the head.

(2)
The Police Force shall be equipped and
maintained to perform its traditional role of
maintaining law and order, and such other
functions as may be prescribed by an Act of
the National Assembly.
(3)
No person or authority shall raise any other
police force or service except by or under
the authority of an Act of the National
Assembly.
